What’s in a story? Vocabulary, sentence structure, verb tenses, imagination and collaboration. The last factor comes to the forefront when the story is being created as a class. This past week, the students of the first year of middle school were challenged to use the simple past verb tense to tell a story, and they came through with flying colors. Everyone had something to contribute, and some of the most interesting details were added by the quieter students. Telling a story means we have something to say, and the tools with which to say it.
